Facilitated by the Purina Accelerator Lab, the Unleashed program is actively immersed in the pet care domain, with a focus on supporting startups that utilize technology to enhance the well-being of pets and their owners. Recently, this accelerator initiative broadened its horizons to welcome applications from the entrepreneurial ecosystems in Brazil and Mexico.
Unleashed is driven by the mission to revolutionize pet services by introducing cutting-edge nutrition and health technologies that forge stronger connections between pets and their caregivers. Through this program, startups gain invaluable access to an expansive network of pet care experts, industry leaders, and seasoned management, alongside valuable training opportunities.
Participating startups are paired with a dedicated team from Purina, guiding them through their developmental journey. This hands-on assistance ensures that pivotal performance milestones are met within a concentrated 20-week timeframe, in accordance with the program’s guidelines. Additionally, funding prospects are available, contingent upon achieving mutually agreed performance targets over this 20-week period. Concepts that successfully address specific customer needs may also secure additional investment and avenues for collaboration.
The application window for the Unleashed program spans from September 1st to October 15th, 2023. The onboarding process, conducted face-to-face, encourages dynamic participation and knowledge exchange. The program itself unfolds from March to July 2024, culminating in a celebratory graduation day event in June.
Unleashed extends an open invitation to startups with inventive concepts in both the business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) spheres. Evaluation criteria center on the pertinence of the business idea in addressing crucial customer challenges, as well as the sustainability and scalability of the business model. Startups that emphasize personalized nutrition, advanced ingredients, AI, data analytics, pet health and wellness, sustainability, and pet services are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Purina Accelerator Lab welcomes sustainability-driven startups to apply, regardless of their location. The program underscores that its selection process is conducted with meticulous consideration, weighing factors such as team cohesion, a robust business plan, a minimum viable product (MVP), scalability potential, and an established customer base.
