After four decades of leadership, Dr. Roger Mugford, the founder and CEO of the Company of Animals (COA), is handing over the reins to his daughter, Emily. Emily has been unanimously appointed by the COA Board as the new chief executive officer, marking a significant transition in the company’s leadership.

Dr. Emily Mugford, a seasoned veterinary surgeon, brings a wealth of experience in the pet industry to her new role. Having served as a director and board member of COA for three years, she is well-equipped to take on the responsibilities of CEO. In a heartfelt letter addressed to the COA staff, Emily reflected on her upbringing within the company and her journey from childhood involvement in Haltis to becoming a practicing veterinarian and business owner. She expressed deep admiration for her father’s achievements and pledged to continue building upon the strong foundation he has established.

While Dr. Roger Mugford steps back from his role as CEO, he will remain actively involved in COA. He will oversee operations at The Pet Centre located at the company’s UK headquarters on Ruxbury Farm and will continue to pursue initiatives aimed at advancing animal welfare and environmental sustainability. Dr. Mugford expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedication and urged them to offer their full support to Emily as she assumes her new leadership role.
