Fifty-eight percent of Belgian households own one or more pets, according to BEPEFA’s 2023-2024 Pet Population Survey conducted by iVox in April 2024. Pet ownership in Belgium has increased by 6% since 2021, with 17% of households adopting a new pet in the past year. The survey found that 32% of Belgians own cats, while 31% own dogs. In terms of pet nutrition, 49% of pet parents prioritize price, 45% focus on life-stage specific products, and 40% choose foods their pets enjoy.
