Czech start-up Bene Meat Technologies has released the first samples of its cultured meat for pet food and is seeking an industry partner to bring the product to market by the end of this year. At Interzoo 2024 in Nuremberg, Germany, the company presented the first samples of cultivated meat chunks in gravy for cats and dogs. The product, produced in bioreactors from non-violently removed animal cells, is set to launch in European Union markets by late 2024, with plans for global expansion. Bene Meat Technologies aims to address the need for sustainable, protein-rich pet food that is not harmful to animals. Meanwhile, Belgium’s United Petfood is expanding its operations with a new production facility in Poland, expected to be completed in 2025, enhancing its global manufacturing capabilities.
