Adopted from a press release: Austria Pet Food GmbH is investing nearly €40 million to expand its production facilities in Pöttelsdorf, Austria, with construction beginning this week. This large-scale expansion aims to more than double production and revenue over the next two years, creating over 50 new jobs. CEO Bernd Berghofer stated that the company’s expansion “not only increases our capacity with the goal of doubling our revenue by 2027 but also allows us to grow sustainably by minimizing land use through a compact and resource-efficient design.”
The project includes a new production line specifically for high-quality wet pet food, a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility, and a photovoltaic system for on-site power generation. Additional infrastructure upgrades will include extended warehouse capacity and new parking areas for trucks to streamline logistics.
The company, which produces canned pet food for the European market, will increase its manufacturing capacity to up to 90,000 tons annually. With an accelerated timeline, the first products from the new facilities are expected within 12 months, and the full expansion is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025. Supported by ATHENA Burgenland, a regional investment fund, along with financing from local banks and government agencies, Austria Pet Food’s investment underscores its commitment to regional economic growth and its leadership role in the European pet food sector.
