In 2023, Germany’s pet care market reached a record €7 billion, with pet food sales accounting for €4.495 billion of the total, highlighting the strong demand in the sector. Notable business moves included VAFO Group‘s full acquisition of Allco Tiernahrung and Westfleisch’s expansion into pet food through The Petfood Company. Leading the industry were seven major companies: Heristo AG, Deuerer, Rondo Food, Bewital Petfood, Vitakraft, Interquell, and Gimborn, all of which saw impressive revenue figures. Heristo AG led with $770 million in revenue, followed closely by Deuerer with $750 million.
