In the 13th calendar week, a meeting took place between the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor; RSN) and representatives of industrial unions, importers and producers in the pet industry intending to resolve the problem of shortage of ingredients for the national pet food industry.
On inquiry, the RSN will investigate the renewal of imports from particular companies in addition to the extension of the termporary permission for the import of raw materials til the end of the year.
Referred by the Moscow-based news service Zooinform, pet food imports decreased by 20 per cent up to 11 March compared to the same time last year, while the supply of livestock feed rose by 23 per cent.
Pet food distributions from Germany declined by 27 per cent, likewise Denmark and Norway suffered. As per Zooinform’s report, RSN tries to replace the current pet food importeurs. Therefore, there are conducted conversations with China, Brazil and Argentina.
