As reported by petfoodprocessing, Insect-based ingredient producer Innovafeed has completed the third phase of expansion at its Nesle facility, significantly increasing its production capacity. This expansion, which began in 2020 and progressed through 2023, allows Innovafeed to stabilize its technology and scale up production. The facility now spans 55,000 square meters and boasts a fivefold increase in larval production capacity, making it the world’s largest insect production site. Founded in 2016, Innovafeed supplies sustainable ingredients for pet food, animal feed, aquaculture, and agriculture, and recently launched the Hilucia™ line, featuring ingredients from black soldier fly larvae. The expansion is part of Innovafeed’s broader strategy, including the recent inauguration of the North American Insect Innovation Center in Illinois and partnerships with ADM and Cargill.
