The new Polish pet food and care business, Dr. PetCare, was supported by the Warsaw-based venture capital fund Arkley Brinc VC with an investment of PLN 2m (US$480,000). In order to that, Dr. Petcare aimed to launch new dog food under their brand Country & Nature.

The company’s products are available at certain stores across Poland, at onliner retailers and their own online shop, stated Mariusz Wojciechowski, chief executive of Dr. PetCare.

“Within a period of six months, we have launched sales of our products in more than 300 stores,” Wojciechowski said. “We produce our pet food in Poland based on unique recipes. We are currently introducing wet dog food to the market, and we have other products under way,” including ones for puppies. “Next year, we will introduce snacks, and also pet food for cats.”

The company promise to use high-quality ingredients in pet foods and supplements. Additionally the products are made of more than 65% animal-based ingredients that provide vitamins A, D3 and E, as well as iron, calcium, zinc and magnesium. The protein used is either turkey, lamb meat or fish. The Country & Nature products even contain between 69 and 72% animal protein.

Regarding future plans, Wojciechowski shared the company’s goal to gain foothold in Europe and expand export sales in 2022.

“When it comes to Europe, some of the most interesting markets for us are the Scandinavian countries, the Balkans and countries such as France. However, before the company starts to develop its presence abroad, its focus remains on the Polish market, where Dr. PetCare aims to “build a broader distribution within the key e-commerce pet stores, as well as pet stores and our own shop,” according to Wojciechowski.
