Trouw Nutrition South Africa’s subsidiary, Nutreco International B.V, has agreed to acquire AECI Limited’s Animal Health business, highlighting Nutreco’s dedication to the African continent and its mission to “Feed the Future.” Established in 1924, AECI specializes in diversified chemicals and offers animal feed premixes among other products. Nutreco aims to leverage AECI’s animal nutrition capabilities to enhance its operations in South Africa, including integrating AECI’s distribution network and manufacturing site in Burgersdorp, South Africa. This move is expected to strengthen support for South African farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Following the transaction, AECI will focus on its Mining and Chemicals business. Holger Riemensperger, AECI’s group CEO, expressed confidence in the future success of the Animal Health business under Nutreco’s leadership. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
