According to an article by petfoodindustry, a new research from the University of Winchester, led by veterinary Professor Andrew Knight, found that dogs on vegan diets may experience better health outcomes compared to those on meat-based diets. The study surveyed 2,536 dog owners and revealed that dogs fed vegan diets had the lowest prevalence of health disorders (36%) compared to those on raw meat (43%) and conventional meat diets (49%). The research assessed various health indicators, and dogs on vegan diets had a significantly lower risk of multiple health disorders, with reductions ranging from 14.4% to 61% compared to dogs on conventional meat diets. The findings align with other studies linking vegan diets to improved health in dogs, with no specific health disorder being more prevalent in vegan-fed dogs.
