Nestlé Hungária has announced a substantial investment of €141 million (US $152 million) in its Bük-based pet food plant, signaling an expansion to elevate production capacity and generate 130 new employment opportunities.

This strategic move involves the establishment of a new production unit, along with the installation of two automated production lines within the facility. Anticipated for 2025, the upgraded plant is projected to have the capacity to manufacture 500,000 tonnes of pet food annually, a significant surge from the 200,000 tonnes reported in 2019. Notably, approximately 85% of this augmented production is earmarked for export.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, confirmed the state’s commitment to facilitating the necessary infrastructure developments to support this substantial investment.

Part of Nestlé’s overarching €772 million (US $831 million) five-year investment plan initiated in 2020, this strategic allocation of funds was underscored by Péter Noszek, Managing Director of Nestlé Hungaria.
