The Fressnapf Group has officially confirmed its intention to establish a ninth European logistics hub in Nörvenich, near Aachen, by the summer of 2025, validating previous reports, including one featured in PET worldwide.

Spanning almost 72,000 square meters, the new facility will house the Fressnapf warehouse and offices, with a substantial section allocated for cutting-edge automation. Commencing construction at the end of March, this e-commerce hub, the most extensive in the company’s history, is slated for completion in late summer 2025.

Christian Buschmann, Vice President of Logistics Engineering & Real Estate at the Fressnapf Group, underscored the benefits of the new logistics center, stating, “As the hub for our European e-commerce business, the new logistics centre will significantly improve the customer journey of our online customers. We will be able to increase the proportion of next-day deliveries considerably, thereby further augmenting customer satisfaction.”

The Nörvenich location is poised to serve as a considerable job generator for the region, with up to 800 new logistics positions gradually unfolding from the summer of 2025, initially filling 500 roles.

In alignment with the Neuruppin logistics center, operational since August 2023, Fressnapf aims to secure sustainability certification to the DGNB Platinum Standard for the Nörvenich hub. The new warehouse will integrate an extensive solar panel array on the roof, generating up to six MW, coupled with rainwater harvesting through roof greening. Heating for the halls will exclusively utilize cutting-edge heat pump technology, while the local e-mobility infrastructure will be expanded with charging stations for both cars and e-bikes.
