In order to meet the rising demand of local and sustainable pet food, Finnish pet retailer Musti Group has fully acquired the factory of producer Premium Pet Food Suomi Oy located in Lieto.
After achieving a sales revenue of was €7.7 million ($8.4M) in the last fiscal year, Musti Group expects the acquisition to reach €3 million ($3.2M) positive for Premium Pet Food’s turnover.
According to CEO David Rönnberg the company shows its committment to sustainability through this.
“We can listen to our customers and respond to the increased demand for locally and sustainably produced products and increase our profitability at the same time by increasing the production of our own brands. This transaction supports our strategy perfectly,” he stated.
The pet retailer intends to continuously reinforce its leading position in the sustainable pet food sector.
Musti Group will keep on producing its dry food brands in the new factory this year.
The dry food production of Musti Group’s brands in the Lieto factory will continue this year.
Musti made several investment in omnichannel capabilites and product expansion. “As a company committed to promoting the health and well-being of pets, we believe it is important to provide pet owners with high-quality, sustainable, and locally sourced pet food options,” Rönnberg continued.
The Lieto factory contributes to the company’s goals to minimize logistic emissions and to use 100% renewable energy sources by only using renewable energy from solar panels.
In FY 2022, Musti increased its turnover by 14.7% to €391 million ($427.4M).
