The production of pet food grew by 8.2 % worldwide in 2021.
According to Alltech’s 2022 Agri-Food Outlook, pet food producers could better recover from the effects of the pandemic.
European pet food production increased 2.7% from 11.28 million metric tons (mmt) in 2021 to 11.59 mmt in 2021. Pet food production in Africa increased 2.1% in 2021 compared to 7% in 2020. pet food production increased from 0.44 mmt to 0.45 mmt in 2021.
The pet food production in North America grew by 12.7% in 2021 from 9.41 mmt in 2020 to 10.60 mmt last year. This was a result of U.S.cititzen bevior in pet adapation.
Asia-Pacific region could record the biggest increase in 2021. Production increased by 17.1%
The report contains an annual suvery on pet food production from over 140 countries.
The survey emphasized supply chain problems and high feed prices ranked as main problems. Furthermore, exports are complicated due to COVID-19 situation.
