The public-private cooperation between the European Commission and the Bio-based Industries Consortium, called Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), has invested €14 million ($15.1M) in Arbiom.

Arbiom will use the investment to build a new factory for sustainable pet food ingredients under the company’s new project SYLPLANT.

Arbiom’s CEO Marc Chevrel comments, “This factory paves the way to Arbiom’s industrial deployment. It will bring 10,000 tons per year of alternative, highly nutritional and sustainable protein to the market to meet future food needs.”

The project shall also establish the utilization of alternative single-cell protein SylPro.

The CBE JU has also supported other pet food related projects. Sylfeed has received an investment to be used for the development from wood into feed ingredients for fish food. Furthermore, ALEHOOP has received an investment which shall be used to increase the company’s raw material security and independence from imported proteins.
