BioCraft Pet Nutrition has achieved price parity with premium traditional meat for its cultivated meat ingredients, now priced at $2.00 to $2.50 per pound. Developed by growing animal cells in vessels similar to those used for brewing and yogurt making, BioCraft’s cultivated meat offers benefits such as customizable nutritional profiles, sterile production conditions, and eliminating harm to animals. It is also more sustainable, using less land and water and creating fewer emissions than traditional meat. The strained meat supply chain has led many pet food companies to seek alternative protein sources. BioCraft addressed the high cost of cultivated meat by optimizing its manufacturing process, utilizing the nutrient-rich growth medium to reduce waste and cost. CEO Shannon Falconer calls this a breakthrough for cultivated meat in the pet food industry. BioCraft expects its products to be on retail shelves by early 2026.
