Nestlé Purina Petcare’s Beneful brand has officially designated February 27 as “National Small Dog Day” to honor the big personalities of small dogs and their impact on pet owners’ lives. To mark the occasion, Beneful is encouraging pet parents to share photos of their tiny companions on social media using #SmallDogDay and tagging @beneful. Purina veterinarian Dr. RuthAnn Lobos explains that dogs weighing 20 pounds or less fall into the small or toy breed category, emphasizing that despite their size, they are full of energy and enthusiasm. She also notes that smaller dogs typically have longer lifespans and enjoy active lifestyles just as much as their larger counterparts.
