VILOFOSS®, a brand by Deutsche Vilomix Tierernährung GmbH, has officially opened the Enorm Biofactory in East Jutland, the largest insect factory in northern Europe. Co-founder and CEO Carsten Lind Pedersen announced that the facility is now ready to ramp up production. The construction began in 2022 with involvement from several industry stakeholders, including the DLG Group. The factory transforms black soldier fly larvae into insect meal, advancing sustainability by using food industry byproducts. Processing about 100 tons of larvae daily, the factory aims to produce 10,000 tons of insect meal annually, with a focus on incorporating these ingredients into animal nutrition and food products, as showcased at Interzoo 2024.
