U.S.-based pet food companies once again dominated the top spots in Petfood Industry’s Top Pet Food Companies database for 2023, claiming nine of the top 10 positions. Purina PetCare, operated out of St. Louis, Missouri and owned by Switzerland-based Nestle, reported higher revenues than Mars Petcare, marking a shift at the top. However, Mars, being privately owned, may have higher actual revenues than estimated. Both Mars and Purina remain significantly ahead of other competitors, with their 2023 revenues millions above the rest of the top 10. The leading companies include Nestlé Purina PetCare at $21,470 million and Mars Petcare Inc. at $20,000 million, followed by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, General Mills, Diamond Pet Foods, J.M. Smucker, United Petfood, Simmons Pet Food, Spectrum Brands / United Pet Group, and Unicharm Corp.
