U.K.-based vegan pet food company Omni supports the findings of a recent academic study by Andrew Knight and colleagues, which showed that vegan diets may lower the risk of certain health disorders in dogs compared to meat-based diets. The study analyzed seven general illness indicators and 22 specific health disorders, finding that only 36% of vegan-fed dogs experienced health issues, compared to 49% on conventional meat and 43% on raw meat diets. Omni’s cofounder, Guy Sandelowsky, praised the study’s use of clinical data, affirming the health benefits of plant-based diets for dogs.
