According to a national survey conducted by the Japan Pet Food Association, 740.000 Japanese became either dog or cat owners in 2021.
Compared to 2019, there has been an increase of 22.2 % (dogs) respectively 17.9% (cats), while especially young people between 20 and 30 years of age prefer taking care of cats.
