According to Fediaf’s annual report Facts & Figures, 90 mio European households (46%) own pets. With 110 mio cats are the most popular followed by dogs (90 mio), birds (50 mio), small mammals (30 mio) and 15 mio aquariums as well as 10 mio terrariums.
The pet food industry could also record a growth of 3.1 per cent (worth 27.7 bn euros). Although nor the number of production facilities neither pet food companies increased, there were more jobs available over the ppast year.
