EIT Food and Mars Petcare have launched an Open Innovation Challenge to find innovative ways to transform agricultural byproducts, such as straw and vegetable waste, into sustainable pet food ingredients. The challenge focuses on improving the digestibility of insoluble fibers found in these byproducts, which are rich in protein but difficult for pets to digest. By partnering with startups, academia, and research institutes, the initiative aims to create more sustainable and valuable pet food options, with applications open until September 22.
