After several years of dedicated publishing, Pet Food Nation (PFN) is discontinuing its regular News Summary and email newsletter by April 1st, 2025. The decision marks the end of a beloved project that served as a trusted information source within the pet food and nutrition industry.
“A difficult but necessary decision,” says Christian Köhler, owner of PFN. Despite growing the subscriber base to around 150 and achieving solid engagement metrics—approximately 40% open rates and 10% click-through rates—the newsletter remained a passion project with no economic viability.
Over the years, PFN has established itself as a go-to platform for news on pet food trends, animal nutrition, and industry insights, offering value to professionals across the globe. The newsletter, in particular, was a key connection point between the platform, its readership, and partners.
“We are deeply grateful to all subscribers and partners who have followed us so attentively and made use of our service,” Köhler adds. While the newsletter will be discontinued, the PFN platform itself will remain online for the time being.
The team is now exploring possibilities for a potential takeover or strategic partnership. Interested parties from the industry or media sector are encouraged to get in touch.
