Ynsect, a French company specializing in insect-based proteins and fertilizers, has filed a safeguard plan after failing to secure enough financing for expansion. The court-supervised plan is expected to give Ynsect time to reorganize, secure fresh capital, and continue developing its insect farming innovations. The company had refocused its strategy on pet food, human food, and plants after raising €160 million, moving away from animal feed. Ynsect is currently in discussions with investors and hopes to finalize the necessary funding soon. In January, Ynsect gained U.S. approval to use defatted mealworm proteins in dog food.
