Liven Proteins and ALT-PRO Advantage, in collaboration with UK partners New Wave Biotech Ltd. and Formidable Foods Ltd., have secured a $1.04 million investment, supported by Protein Industries Canada (PIC) and Innovate-UK, to advance plant-based human and pet food innovation. The project focuses on integrating animal-free collagen into plant-based meat analogues and pet foods. ALT-PRO will develop a new line of plant-based pet products, while Juicy Marbles will test and validate Liven’s collagen for use in meat alternatives. This international partnership highlights the potential of animal-free ingredients to enhance sustainability, food security, and public health across markets in Canada and the UK.
